An impressive carved hardwood example, highly decorated, having a central register carved in relief depicting a stylized human figure carrying a large curve-bladed knife, additional figures include a turtle, crocodile, bird, pig, snake and two figures carrying corpse lying on a litter. Geometric loop decoration register borders. Standing on four integral stylized human legs. Animal skin drum head, held by six large carved knobbed pegs. Deep black-brown surface, some high point wear and imperfections from use, overall exc. cond. |
