Description: |
An intricately painted multicolor example on oil cloth having a large central roundel or mandala surrounded by a smaller roundel in each corner, all containing Buddhas and deities. A multitude of Buddhas and deities in a background landscape. Very intricate and finely painted details. Tricolor silk border and mounted in a modern glass covered wood display frame. Exc. cond. A mandala is a circle, which is a device for the Tantric meditation. It is a visual aid for concentration, leading to the attainment of insights and to the activation of forces culminating in “Siddhi” supernatural forces. The square within the circle represents the “Sacred Palace”. |
