Description: |
Lovely and sculpturally strong, redware pottery, shamanic figure, seated with legs bent at front and holding two rattles aloft in his hands. Proportionally large face with beady eyes recessed beneath the thick brow, very prominent nose with extended, thick-lipped mouth beneath and large, perforated ears flanking. He supports a large bowl on his back, incorporated into the figure and serving as the vessel opening. Head, right arm and part of bowl separated in one piece and reattached. Light paint loss, else exc. cond. |
