Description: |
Hollow molded buff terracotta female figure, seated with small arms forming loops and with hands held to mid body. The large, squared body bears small, relief breasts and is decorated with bold red stripes and squiggly lines formed by black, negative resist painting. Reverse with even more vividly preserved painted surface.The face bears raised and perforated eyes and mouth, applique eyebrows, relief nose with drilled nostrils and pierced ears with small red spools beneath the hollow crown. Excellent condition, only right ear and spool restored, else intact. |
