Cast solid bronze decorated handle from a hydria, depicting a siren or winged female figure perched on a large palmette on the lower portion. Hair centrally parted with two rows of feathers indicated by incisions on her wings. Fluted handle above her head terminating with a curved oval shield decorated with an incised scroliate leaf bunch. Overall blue-green surface patina. Intact, exc. cond. Custom metal base. |
