Description: |
Finely carved cedar wood mask in the form of a beautifully stylized beaver head, having bold features including tall perked ears, heavy brow, open mouth with large teeth, perforated nostrils. Painted red, black, white and green highlights. Perforated around the interior edges for attachment. Handwritten on the interior “Beaver” Mask Gow-nan Band. Nootka Indian”. Exhibits correct patina on the interior from use, overall excellent old surface patina. Intact. A nice example. |
