Cast bronze with double sided central figure flanked by two ferocious beasts, the motif originating in the epic of Gilgamesh. A birds head incorporated into the design of the beasts bodies. An additional double sided figure incorporated into the hips of Gilgamesh. Overall blue-green surface patina. Tip of one beasts snout reattached. Intact, overall exc. cond. Old wooden base. |
