Description: |
Medium buff-brown pottery vessel depicting a seated male figure holding a large bowl in front with both hands resting on his raised knees. Depicted with classic Olmec facial features and a rounded dome head. A jaguar is depicted on his back, clawed paws on the underside, rear of jaguar forms the front of the bowl with incised curled tail on the underside of the bowl. Probably represents a shaman in transformation. Intact, exc. cond. A rare example. |
