Large hollow pottery head originally from a figure, depicted with classic baby-like Olmec facial features, slightly open mouth with bow shape lips, incised slanted eyes and small nose. Stipple textured hairdo having a rear tail with incised details. Some remaining areas of ocher glazed surface and red-brown highlighted hairdo. Several areas of surface encrustation. A few stable scattered hairlines on both sides of the head. Custom hardwood block base. A nice example. |
