Description: Cast bronze amulet, stamp seal depicting the head of Pazuzu, the demon of the southwest wind known for bringing famine during dry seasons, and locusts during rainy seasons. Although Pazuzu is, himself, an evil spirit, he drives away other evil spirits, thus protecting humans against plagues and misfortunes. Rectangular stamp seal on base with an impression of a series of circular elements. Suspension loop at the top. Overall deep blue-green surface patina with scattered encrustation. Intact, exc. cond.
