Description: |
Exceptional mottled gray and white marble-alabaster, decorated large jar. Squat bulbous form with a rounded bottom, and a broad horizontal flat rim, the shoulder decorated with a band of incised crosshatching and four small pierced lug handles for suspension. Large scattered areas of calcified surface deposits, interior heavily encrusted. Small area of restoration on rim, otherwise intact exc. cond. A rare and beautiful example. |
