Description: |
Exceptional carved speckled green and cream hardstone mosaic maskette, composed of eight large mosaic elements. Depicted with a large rounded-angular nose, puckered lips as if exhaling wind, openwork eyes, fancy lug type ears with engraved stylized glyphic designs, and arched brows. Scattered large areas of iron oxide type tan patina. Right ear lobe reattached, otherwise intact, exc. cond. A rare and beautiful example. |
