Carved bone mosaic maskette depicting the Maya God Choc, the god of rain, in skeletal form. Composed of twenty-eight individually carved pieces. Some remaining red pigment highlights and having an excellent ancient surface patina. Some ancient surface erosion on the forehead, otherwise overall exc. cond. Professionally mounted on a modern clay backing. A rare and beautiful example. |
