Description: |
Exceptional buff-salmon color pottery seated dignitary figure, legs crossed and resting his hands on his knees. Very beautifully rendered facial features, with ceremonial scarification across both cheeks. Wearing ear spools and a large beaded pendant necklace, off the shoulder shirt and an ankle length skirt, wide wrist cuffs. Large Maya blue painted circular element on his chest and skirt painted blue. Whistle incorporated in his left arm and back. Overall scattered root marks and surface deposits. Intact, exc. cond. Very rare to find an example this nice. |
