Description: Fine molded buff color pottery standing dignitary, wearing an elaborate costume, holding a rectangular shield on his left forearm decorated with a high relief deity head. Holding with both hands in front of his waist a skull with a wide open mouth, tethered on a long strap, large ear spools. Two trophy heads are attached to the shoulder sleeves. Painted highlights in red-brown, blue, black and white. Whistle type rear support leg. A simple pre-fire “star” incised in the lower back. Intact, exc. cond. Together with an ancient removable jaguar helmet type mask, left ear restored and missing the center head crest, but possibly from another figure.
