Size: 6-1/2”H. x 3-3/4”W.

Description: Reddish-brown pottery seated elder, wearing a short wrap type skirt with a clam shell ornament in the front center of his waist and a long front panel with incised geometric decoration along the bottom edge. Depicted with an elongated face and sunken cheeks with prominent cheek bones, lidded eyes with a pensive facial expression. Wearing ear ornaments and a conical head wrap secured with a band. Legs crossed and his right arm bent and held in a forward position. An applied ball bead in the center of his chest. Some remaining traces of flesh tone surface pigment. Overall scattered root marks on the surface. Both arms repaired and reattached, missing left hand and foot, legs and loincloth reattached, and an original small piece reattached in the top of his head wrap. A beautiful and expressive example.
