Slab of hard stone, painted on one face with resin pigments in brick red, black and yellow ocher. Depicting four stylized human standing figures, with ovoid heads, herding animals (alpacas), and surrounded with a dot pattern, possibly representing cultivated plants. Upper striped border. Placed as offerings to mother and father earth, to insure health among the livestock and human inhabitants of the clan. Intact, overall exc. cond. Custom metal wall hanger. An beautiful example. |
