Description: Fine carved light bluish-green serpentine standing shaman having an elongated, conical head drilled with a large ovoid mounting socket in the top center of his head. Beautifully carved facial features, having classic bow shaped lips, long lug type ears, arms held to his sides with jaguar like paw hands, elegant rounded hip and long legs. Scattered remaining traces or orange red surface pigment. Excellent ancient surface patina. A fault line from the top of his head, through the nose and mouth, and down the left shoulder, doesn’t appear to have ever separated, but has left a chip on the nose and upper lip, otherwise intact, exc. cond. A top quality, exceptional example. Custom bronze base.
Provenance: CIRAM report # 0621-OA-45N-1 included. Ex. Meza Family collection, Whittier, CA., acquired 1960’s. Ex. Fernandez Family Collection: by descent from grandfather, Dr. R. Fernandez MD., 1940’s.
