Exceptional matching pair of pottery costumed dancers or shaman, having some remaining painted red and white slip surface pigment and highlights. Wearing large horned hairdos and disc ear ornaments, wide collar type necklaces, tasseled belts and long paneled loincloths. Expressive facial features, parted lips with toothy mouths. One figure missing rattle hand, reattached head and right forearm, otherwise intact. The other figure with head and right arm reattached, otherwise intact. These are superior quality examples, it would be very difficult to find a better pair. |
