Description: |
Carved mottled light blue-green serpentine maskette, having faint oval eyes, deeply undercut brows and drilled circular elements on either side of the bridge of his nose. Flared upper lip reduced to a trapezoidal band indicates an Olmec influence. Shallow round drill holes under the upper lip. Surface has an oxidized whitish patina, and impacted with cinnabar. Some ancient loss to the upper head ridge, and some scattered surface weathering, otherwise intact. |
