| Description: |
Fine Caddo dark grayware engraved bottle with a hard, lustrous surface, a bulbous body with finely rendered engraving in concentric circular and other motifs, and the neck swelling at the middle. This style, known as Hodges Engraved, is generally characterized by curvilinear forms set off against a crosshatched background. Some minor restored rim chips, neck cleanly reattached, body repaired from a few large original pieces with restoration over the break lines. A rare and impressive example. |
