Description: |
Mississippian limestone pipe in the form of a shaman, depicted with his hands around his knees, the pipe bowl in his back, his hair pulled into a topknot on the right side, and an animal pelt worn across his head. He has a paraphernalia bag at his right side, and his face is thrust forward. Overall scattered mineral deposits on the surface, burnt deposits in the pipe bowl from use. A rare and important example. |
