Description: |
Carved wood mask, pierced at the eyes and mouth and with a dark patina. An expressive mask probably representing an ancestral spirit, or a shaman, having stylized facial features, high cheek bones, deeply set pierced eyes, and ovoid openwork lips. Some remaining black painted highlights. Suspension holes on both side edges. Some very minor wood loss and some small dormant insect holes, otherwise intact. Custom metal base. |
