Description: Fine matching pair of polychrome decorated pottery effigies with painted and modeled human features. These are beautiful examples of the Coclé practice of making vessels in pairs. Standing on integral, openwork vented pedestal bases. Some very minor high point paint wear, and some minor repairs to the bases with restoration over the break lines, otherwise overall exc. cond. Exceptional examples. They are far more elegant than the single examples illustrated by Lothrop. Related Works: Lothrop, Samuel Kirkland 1942.
