Description: |
Polychrome decorated pottery anthropomorphic vessel, probably a mythological seated deity creature. Painted arms held to his chest, having large claws, intense facial expression and a tall rear spout. Painted red and black on a cream ground. Overall scattered mineral and surface deposits. Expertly repaired from approximately eight original pieces with restoration over the break lines, right ear and spout restored. Figural examples are quite rare. |
