| Description: |
Slightly larger than life sized red-brown sandstone head of the Buddha, having heavily lidded eyes, slender nose and full, thick lips. Typical elongated earlobes and tightly fitted, textured head covering with tiered usnisa at top. Fully carved in the round. Base of right earlobe missing, both ears chipped, reverse shows a scuffed area. A beautiful face and in excellent state of preservation. On an old custom hardwood block base. A beautifully sculpted and impressive example. Lopburi school under Khmer influence. |
