| Description: |
Speckled green serpentine stone celt having an incised decoration on both sides depicting a profile head. One wearing a bird headdress, and on the opposite side wearing a zoomorphic headdress. Eyes and ear ornament are deeply carved recesses which once held obsidian insets, one obsidian ear disc remains. All decoration retains red cinnabar highlights. Excellent ancient surface patina. The upper 1-1/4” of the celt has an old restoration, which could be removed. A rare and beautiful example. |
