| Description: |
Carved limestone mask depicting a shaman or important personage with naturalistic facial features; carved openwork pupils and drilled nostrils. Biconical drilled attachment hole in the top center upper rim. Overall surface erosion, most likely caused by water immersion. Overall scattered iron-brown surface deposits. Repaired from three large and one small original pieces, with restoration over the front break lines, the interior break lines left visible. A 2” v-shape missing shard restored on the right edge of his chin, and an additional 2” area of restoration on the left lower edge. Custom display base. Very rare type.
