| Description: |
Beautifully carved mottled tan, gray and cream color quartzite mask. Depicted with openwork eyes, strong very naturalistic nose, drilled perforated nostrils, parted lips with a full strong upper lip. Full puffy cheeks and strong rounded chin, drilled perforated ear lobes. This is most likely a portrait of a ruler. Four biconical drilled attachment holes along the outer edges. A vertical break on the right side of mask and the upper left corner have been professionally reattached, otherwise in excellent condition. Overall beautiful surface quality and sculpting. Custom bronze base. A top quality mask, of a rare portrait type. |
