Description: (1) "The Prince of Wales and Other Famous Americans" by Miguel Covarrubias with a prevace by Carl Van Vechten (New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 1925). First Ed; (2) "Frankie and Johnny" by John Huston. Illustrated by Covarrubias (New York: Albert & Charles Boni, 1930. First Ed. 160 pp; (3) "Carmen" by Prosper Merimee with an introduction by Konrad Bercovici. Illustrated with lithographs in color by Jean Charlot. Translated by Lady Mary Lloyd (New York: Limited Editions Club, 1941). Signed by Jean Charlot on last page. 143 pp; (4 & 5) "All Men Are Brothers" Vols I & II by Shui Hu Chuan. Translated by Pearl S. Buck with an Introduction by Lin Yutang. Illustrations by Miguel Covarrubias (New York: The Limited Editions Club, 1948). Numbered 645 and signed by Miguel Covarrubias on last page of Volume II. 688 pp. total; (6) "Miguel Covarrubias Caricaatures" by Beverly J. Cox and Denna Jones Anderson with essays by Al Hirschfeld and Bernard F. Reilly, Jr. Foreword by Alan Fern (Washington, D.C.: Smithsonian Institution Press for the National Portrait Gallery, 1985. 163 pp. Very good condition. "Carmen" and "All Men are Brothers" have been signed by Jean Charlot and Miguel Covarrubias, respectively. Some wear to book jacket of "Caricatures" and slip case of "Carmen." "The Prince..." has wear to cover and some staining and discoloring, especially to bottoms of pages near end, as well as tattering and fraying to cover, but illustrations and text are clear and legible. "Frankie" has some yellowing to pages and bending to corners of covers, but is otherwise in very good condition. All have an inscription or label from previous owner in first few pages. Otherwise, "Carmen," "All Men...," and "Caricatures" are in excellent overall condition. *This lot will not be on view at the New York exhibition, and will ship from Colorado*
