| Description: |
Expressive maiden spirit mask, carved with five cone shaped horns across the top of the hairdo with engraved concentric motifs. The serene white spirit face is further ornamented with raised ridged scarification along the forehead, concentric relief motifs at the temples, and delicate scarification flanking the corners of the mouth. The refined features include small eye openings, a long, sharply modeled nose, and a gently smiling mouth with finely engraved teeth. Thick applications of white kaolin and black pigment remain well preserved. Minor losses are present along the rim, hairline age crack, minor repair at chin. The surface displays a warm tan and black patina consistent with age and ceremonial use. Custom base. |
