Impressive large hand-held dance staff displaying a female figure kneeling on a circular platform, holding her breasts, and balancing the large winged headdress, the symbolic representation of thunder, with a pair of smaller relief thunder wands on front flanking a diamond, and a serpent head along back. Her hair is finely carved with incised sections of rows and chevrons, her face modeled with large thick-lidded eyes, scarification along cheeks, and relief carved beaded choker around neck. Losses to base of handle, minor wormeaten damage. Surface encrusted with deposits, blackened patina. Custom base. |
