Description: |
Pipe carved with anthropomorphic head of angular geometric form. The head surmounted with tubular opening for tobacco, metal cut-outs nailed to rim and lining bowl, face with high relief ridge nose and angular nostrils, extended rectangular ears, jutting chin, incised eyes and scarification, and crosshatch patterns above and below. The stem with attached spool end and bone tubular insert adorned with distinctive curvilinear patterns. Minor chip on rim, general surface weathering, stem repaired to pipe head. Stem may not be original to pipe head. Custom metal base. |
