Description: |
Carved, banded alabaster mask with tan-brown patina, having drilled and carved, recessed eyes, relief nose, parted lips, slightly raised browline, and sloped forehead. Evidence of drilled attachment holes on both sides, now mostly worn away. Overall heavily patinated surface, exhibits heavy surface weathering and surface abrasions mostly around the chin and jaw. Some scattered minor ancient edge losses and ears, otherwise intact. Drilled mounting hole in the reverse, center of the mask. A text book example. |
