Description: |
Orange-buff color pottery figural vessel depicting a seated male dignitary, holding both hands on his raised knees, having a prominent penis. Wearing a fancy arch form decorated headdress with a central floral face element, fancy ear ornaments, beaded nose ornament, and wide arm bracelets. Face incised with a ceremonial geometric tattoo or scarification. Large cylindrical vessel behind the figure. Some remains of multicolor pigment highlights. Overall scattered mineral deposits on the surface. Right side of headdress reattached with break line visible. Repaired from approximately eight original pieces with restoration over the break lines. |
