| Description: |
Very large polychrome decorated pedestal vessel having an openwork four leg base on an integral low pedestal ring. A large crocodile having an extended head and tail forms the lower portion of the vessel. Tapered bulbous vessel with two opposing jaguars climbing near the top. Overall polychrome painted geometric and abstract zoomorphic decoration. Minor ancient 1” chip on the base rim, minor upper rim losses to a few of the border beads, and some light scattered paint wear, otherwise intact. Overall in an excellent state of preservation for such a monumental vessel. A rare and beautiful example. |
