Carved gray basalt stone cylindrical altar depicting a very simple stylized zoomorphic or human head, with projecting lug type ears and nose, large round relief carved eyes. Carved offering cavity in the top. Overall excellent ancient surface patina with scattered areas of encrusted deposits. Losses to both ears and tip of nose. A large ancient chip on the lower portion, and two smaller ancient upper rim chips. |
