| Description: |
Large gilt copper alloy skull temple roundel, made from a single piece of a heavy copper sheet, hammer molded, in very high relief, depicting a human skull, having a wide toothy mouth and sockets for eyes. Overall strong gilt surface, the reverse exhibits a strong blue-green mottled surface patina. Several old losses to the left eye region and a few minor scattered imperfections, otherwise intact. A rare and powerful example. Custom bronze display base. |
