| Description: |
Carved hardwood Buddha standing on it’s original lotus blossom multi-tiered base. The separately carved Buddha is depicted wearing a long dhoti and tightly fitted ankle length skirt with a belted waist and borders highlighted in gold pigment. Beautifully carved serene facial features and depicted with a tightly crosshatched hairdo with a top bun. Gilt surface remaining on the back of his robe. Missing both separately carved hands, toes on left foot and one toe on his right foot. Some dormant insect losses to the base. A very well carved early example. |
